Yaya Lu

Yaya is a 4th year undergraduate student at the ANU, studying a Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) majoring in Human-Centric Computing. As a young girl, Yaya was fascinated by the issue of accessible systems, particularly for people with disabilities. In 2012 she developed a prototype wheelchair out of LEGO Mindstorms NXT to provide independence for a complete quadriplegic, which earned her awards such as finalist for Young Australian of the Year, and the Pride of Australia Award for Young Leader. Yaya wants to improve her knowledge of user-experience research and design, and hopes to make a career in the field. She is interested in learning more about the profession and is excited to get to know all the other participants.

Paige Brown

Paige is a 3rd year undergraduate student at the ANU, studying a double degree of a Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Criminology. She is fascinated by the way that both individuals and societies interact with technology and, in particular, how this can lead to the occurrence of cybercrimes. Paige wants to improve her knowledge of user-experience design and research to better understand the underlying principles behind human computational interaction.

Utkarsh (Kash) Mittal

Utkarsh is a postgraduate student at ANU, pursuing a Master in Computing degree specializing in Artificial Intelligence. He has an insatiable curiosity and a passion for everything science. When he isn't reading a book, he can usually be found working on a programming problem (or binging Netflix). In 2015, he placed 2nd nationally in a programming contest in India. Being a huge believer in cross-disciplinary knowledge, Utkarsh has been doing research in neural networks and cryptography while also dabbling in algorithms, human-centric computing and data visualization. He is looking forward to the competition not only as a chance to use his skills but also to be inspired by the ideas of others.

Lok (Rowena) Pang

Rowena is a 4th year undergraduate student at the ANU who is currently studying a Bachelor of Science (Major in Human Biology with specialization in Genetics) and a Bachelor of Information Technology. Due to her interest in both fields, Biology and IT, Rowena had always been interested in experimenting and learning about methods which current technology can aid humans. Through learning both fields thoroughly to determine the areas which human can benefit from technology aid and the extent of current technological advancement, she aims to develop technological products that can improve human well-being and quality of life.

Tania De Luca

Tania is an undergraduate student at the ANU in her final year of a Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) minoring in Photonic Systems. She enjoys diversifying her skills and learning new approaches to problem solving. She is passionate about many things including human computer interactions, systems engineering, creative thinking, the environment, and life in general. Tania has enjoyed her university journey but is looking forward to using her skills to address real world problems. :D
